Insomniac Games’ Marvel’s Wolverine launched on PS5 on 15 September 2026 as planned, and Sony’s own product pages settle most of the practical questions: two editions, Australian prices of A$124.95 and A$139.95, a list of pre-order extras and a Battle Yellow console bundle. This guide collects what is confirmed on primary PlayStation sources and flags what still is not, as of the most recent check. It is a buying guide, not a review.
What you are buying
PlayStation’s US product page describes Marvel’s Wolverine as a single-player, narrative-driven action game that is not open world. It is developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, and it is a PS5-only release carrying the PS5 Pro Enhanced label. The same page lists Canada, Japan and Madripoor among the locations, and describes combat built around swappable Techniques and Adaptations.
PlayStation Blog’s 14 September developer interview adds the cast: Liam McIntyre voices Logan, Sabretooth, Mystique and Jean Grey appear as allies, and the Reavers and The Hand are named as enemies. That post also names the Battle Reborn suit. A final trailer aired during the 3 September State of Play.
Classification matters for Australian buyers. The PlayStation AU page carries an ACB MA 15+ rating for Strong Violence and In-Game Purchases; the US page shows ESRB Mature.
Editions and Australian prices
The PlayStation AU page lists two digital editions:
- Standard Edition: A$124.95
- Digital Deluxe Edition: A$139.95
In the US the split is US$69.99 and US$79.99, with a Digital Deluxe Upgrade for anyone who starts with Standard. The Australian price for that upgrade is now confirmed on the PlayStation AU page: A$15.00 — not a straight US$10 conversion.
The Digital Deluxe Edition’s contents are also now confirmed on the PlayStation AU page: five exclusive suits (Incredible, Savage, Night Hunter, New Leather, Age of Apocalypse), five exclusive claws (Smooth-Edged, Hollow Blade, Serrated Spine, Tapered, Thick), four Technique Points, the Classic Brown Suit and Reflective Claws early unlock, and four PlayStation Avatars. If none of that matters to you, the Standard Edition at A$124.95 is still the lower-risk starting point, since the A$15.00 upgrade path exists later.
Pre-order bonuses
PlayStation’s US page lists four pre-order items:
- Classic Brown Suit (early unlock)
- Reflective Claws (early unlock)
- One Technique Point
- Four PlayStation avatars
The suit and claws are described as early unlocks rather than exclusives, which is the wording to keep in mind when deciding whether pre-ordering matters to you.
Limited-edition hardware
PlayStation Blog’s 11 August post detailed hardware that launches alongside the game on 15 September, with pre-orders opened on 19 August:
- PS5 Digital Edition Battle Yellow bundle: console, matching DualSense and a game code, US$649.99
- Battle Yellow DualSense: US$84.99
- Battle Yellow and Adamantium console covers: US$74.99 each
That post published prices in USD, GBP, EUR and JPY only. As of this update, Australian pricing and official retail availability for the bundle and accessories are still not confirmed on a PlayStation/Sony primary source. Some retailers list the bundle around A$999.95, but that is a retailer listing, not an official PlayStation price, so it is not treated as confirmed here — check PlayStation Direct or your retailer directly rather than relying on any converted or retailer-quoted figure.
PS5 Pro and accessibility
The US page states that PS5 Pro uses PSSR, Sony’s upscaling technology, for this title. No frame-rate or resolution figures have been published by PlayStation or Insomniac as of this update, and this article makes no claims about performance — third-party technical analysis exists but is not an official source, so it is not cited here. The PlayStation AU page lists 35 accessibility options, a useful figure if adjustable controls or visual aids affect your decision.
Launch, and what happened since
The game launched on 15 September 2026 as planned — no delay was reported on any PlayStation source. An AEST unlock time was never shown on a primary PlayStation source, so day-one buyers relied on the countdown on their PS Store pre-order page rather than reported US times. As of this update, PlayStation Blog and the product pages have not published official post-launch sales or reception figures; third-party sales claims exist but are not cited here because they do not come from Sony or Insomniac directly.
What is still unannounced
No post-launch content, expansion or roadmap has been announced on PlayStation Blog or the product pages as of this update. Marvel’s Wolverine also launched in the same fortnight as the September PS Plus Essential line-up, so it was not the only PS5 decision that month. For everything else confirmed for the console, see the PlayStation 5 hub.
