Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave launched on 17 September 2026 on schedule as a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, priced at US$69.99 digitally on Nintendo’s US store, with the physical Dagdan Collection set available the same day. Nintendo released a day-one patch (version 1.0.1, 297MB) alongside the launch. This article verifies the confirmed specs, Dagdan Collection details and the announced DLC plans; it is not a review and makes no hands-on gameplay claims.

The basics

Nintendo’s US store page, checked 22 September (post-launch), lists:

  • Release date: 17 September 2026
  • Platform: Nintendo Switch 2 only; there is no original Switch version
  • Price: US$69.99 digital
  • Publisher: Nintendo
  • Players: single-player
  • Download size: approximately 29.5GB
  • Features: HDR output, Save Data Cloud
  • ESRB descriptors: Fantasy Violence, Mild Language, Suggestive Themes, Use of Alcohol, In-Game Purchases

Nintendo UK’s September release list, published 31 August, also carries 17 September and lists the game for Nintendo Switch 2 only, so the exclusivity is confirmed on two Nintendo pages.

The Australian listing

The Australian eShop listing gives an ACB classification of Mature, with the consumer advice “Mature themes and violence”, a download size of 27.4GB, and nine supported languages including English. The AUD price was not displayed on the page fetched for this article, so check the eShop app directly before assuming a figure; no Australian price is stated here.

The premise Nintendo has published

Nintendo AU’s 4 August article, published alongside a dedicated Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave Direct the same day, sets out the story. The Dagdan Empire stages the Heroic Games in its capital, Dagsion, and the winner is granted a single wish. Five years after those games, the empire faces the revived demon god Balor, and the four Heroes who might have stood against it, named as Cai, Dietrich, Theodora and Leda, have disappeared. The god Sothis then charges the player with saving the world by changing the past.

That structure, a tournament arc followed by a return to an earlier point in the story, is the confirmed shape of the campaign. Sothis will be a familiar name to players of earlier games in the series; Nintendo’s article names the character without elaborating on the connection, and this article does not either.

Day-one patch

Nintendo released version 1.0.1 on 17 September, a 297MB update, to improve the launch experience. The patch adds three special weapons from earlier Fire Emblem series titles (the Chosen Sword, Chosen Lance and Breidablik) plus the Royal Sword from Fire Emblem Shadows, available as story progression rewards in Dagsion. Various stability fixes were also included. No critical launch bugs requiring a day-one patch have been reported.

The Dagdan Collection

Nintendo AU’s article confirms a physical Dagdan Collection available from 17 September, containing a steel case, art cards, a map and an artbook. The Dagdan Collection is confirmed in stock and available for order at major Australian retailers including JB Hi-Fi, EB Games and the official Nintendo Store Australia. Specific AUD pricing online was not accessible via web fetch, but retailers are actively stocking the edition, so contact your local retailer for current pricing.

DLC and Season Pass plans

The ESRB descriptor list on the US page includes In-Game Purchases, and Nintendo has now announced the post-launch content roadmap. Two story-driven expansions are planned under an Expansion Pass:

  • Shadows of Dagda — upcoming story expansion
  • The Crown’s Fracture — upcoming story expansion

Separately, a Season Pass for three PvP-focused coliseum updates is available. Players who pre-order or own the Dagdan Collection edition receive early access to the Emblem of Dagda bond ring; this cosmetic bonus will not be sold separately until the Season Pass’s final wave concludes in December 2026. No specific DLC launch dates or pricing have been announced.

What is not confirmed

Details not publicly available as of 22 September:

  • The Australian digital eShop price in AUD (not displayed on Nintendo AU pages or eShop web fetches)
  • Dagdan Collection AUD retail pricing (in stock at major retailers but prices not published online)
  • Specific DLC launch dates and pricing
  • How the game relates to previous entries in the series beyond the named appearance of Sothis
  • Performance figures, resolution or frame-rate specifications

Why it matters

Fortune’s Weave arrived as Nintendo’s flagship first-party release of Switch 2’s spring, landing ahead of The Witcher 3 Remastered and the Star Fox update on 29 September. Single-player only, per Nintendo’s official page. The announced Expansion Pass signals Nintendo’s commitment to post-launch content, a standard for modern Fire Emblem releases.

What happens next

The Expansion Pass story expansions (Shadows of Dagda and The Crown’s Fracture) are planned but no launch dates have been published; the Season Pass’s final PvP wave concludes in December 2026. The next Nintendo first-party release is the Ocarina of Time remake on 5 November; the full first-party schedule is in our Nintendo Direct September 2026 recap.
