Niantic’s Pokémon GO Twilight Trails season arrived on 8 September 2026 and will run through 1 December. For Android players, this three-month window brings some of the season’s biggest debuts: Paldea region Pokémon, new Mega-Evolved forms and Dynamax features at Power Spots. Here is what is live this week and which redeem codes are active.
The Twilight Trails season: new region, new mechanics
The season introduces Pokémon first discovered in the Paldea region, with Maschiff and Mabosstiff leading the debut roster, alongside the first appearance of Shiny Flamigo. Across the season, more Paldea species will join the Pokédex. Mega Evolution gets expanded this season with Mega Staraptor, Mega Chandelure and other forms appearing in raids and field activities. Dynamax Pokémon battles appear throughout the season at designated Power Spots, featuring species like Dynamax Rhyhorn, Dynamax Sneasel and Dynamax Sizzlipede, with a dedicated Max Battle Day bringing Dynamax forms of the legendary trio Uxie, Mesprit and Azelf.
This week: Pokémon Horizons tie-in and seasonal activities
As of 21 September, the Pokémon Horizons tie-in event is underway (running through 22 September at 8 PM). This crossover celebrates the launch of Pokémon Horizons: Season 3 and brings a costumed Charmander wearing Friede’s goggles into the wild and as a Field Research encounter—a regional reference to the television series.
The season also structures regular weekly activities: Scenic Sunday increases wild Pokémon spawns and Route encounters; Max Monday guarantees Rare Candy XL and rotates Dynamax battles; Showcase Tuesday offers PokéStop Showcase participation; Wednesday brings raid hour bonuses; GO Battle Thursdays and Spotlight Hour (6–7 PM local time) feature rotating battle cups and spotlight species; Friendship Friday reduces Stardust trading costs. The GO Battle League and GO Pass progression
The GO Battle League Twilight Trails season follows the same calendar, with multiple competitive cups rotating throughout the three months. Each cup enforces a specific CP cap and Pokémon type eligibility to encourage team diversity:
Mega-Enabled Cups (Great, Ultra, Master League) grant 4× Stardust bonus from wins and run multiple times across the season—Great and Ultra League editions appear in September, October and November, while Master League Mega Edition rotates through all three months. Trainers can use Mega-Evolved Pokémon in all these formats.
Specialty Cups introduce themed restrictions:
- Willpower Cup (15–22 September): Fighting, Psychic and Dark types only
- Retro Cup (22–29 September): Dark, Steel and Fairy types excluded
- Mega Colour Cup (29 September–6 October): Grass, Fire, Water and Electric types only
- Little Cup (13–20 October): Maximum 500 CP, unevolved Pokémon only
- Fantasy Cup (20–27 October): Dragon, Steel and Fairy types only
- Mega Halloween Cup (27 October–3 November): Bug, Poison, Ghost, Dark and Fairy types only
- 2026 GO LAIC Cup (10–18 November): Rotating competitive ruleset
- Mega Catch Cup (24 November–1 December): Only Pokémon caught during the Twilight Trails season are eligible
A GO Pass offers seasonal progression and milestone bonuses, unlocking rewards at ranks 1, 25, 50 and 75—including benefits like increased Candy XL from trades and doubled Adventure Incense duration for those using the Premium tier. Avatar items inspired by Gym Leader Ryme unlock at ranks 10, 15, 20 and Legend, and featured Pokémon encounters include Toxtricity, Dondozo, Kingdra, Duraludon and Pikachu Libre.
Daily discovery bonuses
Twilight Trails structures regular themed daily activities across the season. These bonuses rotate weekly and reward consistent play:
- Scenic Sunday: Increased wild Pokémon spawns and bonus Buddy Candy on Route encounters
- Max Monday: Guaranteed Rare Candy XL from Max Battles at Power Spots
- Showcase Tuesday: Expanded participation in PokéStop Showcases
- Wednesday: Rare Candy XL bonuses from raid completions, with raid hour bonuses available
- GO Battle Thursday: GO Battle League participation with Spotlight Hour (6–7 PM local time) featuring a rotating spotlight species
- Friendship Friday: Enhanced trading with reduced Stardust costs and guaranteed Candy XL from trades
Featured Pokémon and egg pool
New and returning Pokémon populate the seasonal egg pool across all distances. Two-kilometre eggs feature Elekid, Magby and Azurill; five-kilometre eggs contain Maschiff and Sizzlipede (both Paldea debuts); ten-kilometre eggs include Dratini and Honedge. Regional variants are available through seven-kilometre eggs from Gift exchanges.
Dynamax Pokémon appear at designated Power Spots throughout the season, rotating between Rhyhorn, Sneasel and Sizzlipede. A dedicated Max Battle Day brings Dynamax forms of the legendary trio—Uxie, Mesprit and Azelf—allowing trainers to encounter these region-specific legendaries in Dynamax form.
Redeem codes active now
Four publicly shareable redeem codes are currently live as of 21 September. Codes are redeemed through the official Pokémon GO web store on any device, and you do not need to be in the game to use them.
Expiring very soon:
- 0004POKEMONGO (expires 22 September at 8 PM): Grants Pokémon Horizons Bonus Timed Research, which includes a costumed Charmander encounter (wearing Friede’s goggles), 35 Poké Balls, 5 Razz Berries, 10,000 XP and 5,000 Stardust. This code expires on 22 September and is listed here for completeness if you have not yet redeemed it.
Expiring 30 September:
- LEGOxPOKEMONGOxCAP: Unlocks LEGO Pokémon Cap Timed Research and the “2026 LEGO Pokémon Cap” avatar item. Also grants 3 Pinap Berries, 3 Razz Berries, 3 Nanab Berries, 1,000 XP and 1,000 Stardust.
- MLBxPOKEMONGO2026: Grants an MLB-branded T-shirt avatar item.
Ongoing (no confirmed expiry):
- LEGOxPOKEMONGOxBERRIES: Provides 5 Razz Berries, 10 Poké Balls, 5 Pinap Berries and 5 Nanab Berries.
