Nintendo ran two Directs on consecutive days, a Zelda 40th Anniversary presentation on 8 September 2026 and a general Direct on 9 September, and between them dated most of the Switch 2 slate through to mid-2027. Nintendo’s own recap page, published 9 September, is the source for every date below, with Nintendo’s Zelda Direct article and current store pages filling in the rest.
The five headlines
- Metroid Ravenous launches 28 January 2027 on Switch 2, with pre-orders open. See our Metroid Ravenous release article.
- The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Switch 2 arrives 5 November 2026, and a Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Switch 2 console, Pro Controller and carrying case land on 29 October.
- Monster Hunter Wilds comes to Switch 2 on 4 December 2026.
- Mario Kart World received a free update on 9 September itself, adding ten classic Super Mario Kart courses to VS Race, two Knockout Tour routes and a Spectator Mode.
- Final Fantasy VII Revelation is dated 8 April 2027 on Switch 2, matching the PS5 date.

Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave was already dated before the Direct; Nintendo’s Direct hub and Nintendo UK’s September list both carry 17 September, and it is covered in our Fortune’s Weave pre-launch article.
Windows without a day
- Kirby and the World Beyond: Spring 2027, described on the Direct hub as the latest 3D Kirby adventure. Nintendo’s “spring” is Northern Hemisphere spring, roughly March to May, so Australian readers should read it as autumn.
- Kingdom Come: Deliverance II Royal Edition: 2027.
- The Witcher 3 Songs of the Past expansion: 2027.
- Pokemon Pokopia Expansion Pass Part 2: later this year.
- Persona 6: to be announced.
- Yo-kai Watch 2 remake: in development; the hub notes it will take a while.
- Overcooked escape-room spin-off: listed on the hub without a date.
A note on Xenoblade Chronicles 3
Nintendo’s 9 September recap listed the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Switch 2 Edition without a date, but Nintendo’s US store page, checked 15 September, gives 3 December 2026 and describes a new Hero named Shimmer, a Heroes’ Vault mode, newly voiced scenes, output up to 4K at 60fps on a TV and 1080p in handheld, and a 42.6GB download. The store page is the more recent source, but the discrepancy is worth knowing if you see the date reported both ways.
The Zelda 40th Direct
Nintendo’s Zelda Direct article confirms Ocarina of Time for Switch 2 on 5 November 2026, the Anniversary Edition hardware set on 29 October 2026, a Zelda film on 30 April 2027, Young Link and Young Zelda amiibo in 2027, and a Mineru’s Construct amiibo on 17 September 2026. Prices for the anniversary console and accessories were not published in the sources checked.
What still comes to the original Switch
Only four recap entries are labelled for both consoles: Professor Layton and the New World of Steam (10 December 2026), Danganronpa 2×2 (14 January 2027), Mega Man: Dual Override (Spring 2027) and Metal Slug Ultimate Collection (2027). What was left out here
Reported pricing for Monster Hunter Wilds on Switch 2 does not appear in Capcom’s press release or Nintendo’s recap, so it is not included. The Direct’s running time and start time were not confirmed on a Nintendo page and are also omitted.
What happens next
Nintendo does not pre-announce Direct dates. The nearest confirmed release from this slate is Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave on 17 September, followed by the Star Fox update and The Witcher 3 Remastered on 29 September. Platform hubs: Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch.
