Xbox Wire’s 1 September post set out the first half of September’s Game Pass additions: seven titles landing between 1 and 15 September 2026, led by RuneScape: Dragonwilds on day one, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and SpeedRunners 2: King of Speed. The same post lists ten games leaving the service on 15 September, Cyberpunk 2077 and Frostpunk 2 among them.
What was announced
The post, written by Megan Spurr, Xbox’s Senior Community Lead, covers additions, tier eligibility, an EA Play trial and the mid-month removals. Here is the schedule as it applies to Xbox Series X|S owners:
- 1 September: Shelldiver (Cloud, Console, PC; Ultimate, Premium, PC Game Pass)
- 3 September: SpeedRunners 2: King of Speed, day one (Cloud, Series X|S, PC; Ultimate, PC Game Pass)
- 4 September: Dice a Million (Premium, Ultimate, PC Game Pass; listed as new to Premium)
- 8 September: Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War (Cloud, Console, PC; Ultimate, Premium, PC Game Pass)
- 10 September: The Royal Writ
- 10 September: Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage (Cloud, Series X|S, PC)
- 15 September: RuneScape: Dragonwilds, day one (Cloud, Series X|S, PC; Ultimate, Premium, PC Game Pass)
Where the post uses the generic “Console” label, that covers Xbox One as well as Series X|S. SpeedRunners 2, Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage and Dragonwilds are listed for Series X|S only. Tier and platform details for The Royal Writ were not itemised in the post.
Three to look at first
RuneScape: Dragonwilds
Xbox Wire’s 2 September post from Jagex’s Jake Blunt confirms the co-op survival game arrives on Xbox Series X|S on 15 September, day one on Game Pass and as an Xbox Play Anywhere title, so progress carries between console and PC. It supports one to four players, has skill levelling from 1 to 99, Skill Spells and base building, and Jagex says the map has tripled in size over 18 months of early access, with three new regions and area bosses. The Xbox launch is also the 1.0 launch: Jagex’s own news post confirms Dragonwilds leaves early access the same day. It enters the PS Plus Game Catalog on 15 September too, covered in our PS Plus Extra September breakdown.
An Xbox Store AUD price was not verified for this article. For reference, the Steam page showed A$43.95 for the standard edition and A$57.90 for Deluxe on 15 September, which is the sort of outlay Game Pass members are avoiding.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
The 2020 entry joined the service on 8 September under the Console label, so Xbox One owners are included as well as Series X|S. It extends the run of back-catalogue Call of Duty titles on Game Pass, available on Ultimate, Premium and PC Game Pass.
TCG Card Shop Simulator reaches 1.0
The post notes that TCG Card Shop Simulator leaves Game Preview with its 1.0 release on 15 September, so members who tried the preview build get the finished version on the same day as Dragonwilds.
Also in the post
EA Sports NHL 27 received a 10-hour EA Play trial on console from 4 September. An Aniimo monthly reward pack is available to all tiers from 16 September. Separately, Xbox Wire’s 7 September post confirmed that Once Human, a free-to-play title, became available on Xbox Series X|S with Game Pass on 7 September.

Members can normally buy a leaving title at a member discount before it goes; the post does not state the percentage, so check the Xbox Store listing for each game rather than assuming a figure.

Xbox Wire’s 15 September Wave 2 post reveals the second half of the month’s additions, covering late September and October:
